Conversations surrounding consent have not been few and far between. Many of these conversations center around what consent is, how to give it, is it gender-specific and so on. The start of the #metoo movement seemed to upend how our culture perceives and speaks to one another. The critical dialogue and continued dissection of consent will continue to evolve as we enter this new territory.
Inspired and motivated to take part in this all-important movement, Grip took on a passion project that centered around consent, hoping to dismantle preconceived notions (and uncomfortable questions) for young adults and inspire conversations about how to get and give consent. We created a website, Instagram account and awareness posters placed around the city of Chicago (have you seen them?!) to raise awareness in the targeted time frame of spring. We hooked up with local partners RAINN, KAN-WIN, and Rape Victim Advocates to kick off the project and, through word on the street, CAASE and Gyrls in the H.O.O.D joined the line-up. By utilizing approachable design (and emojis) the branding and design aesthetic appeal to teens as less, well, scary.
